Saral-AltiKa Opportunity

Joint Announcement of Opportunity

The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Space, Government of India and Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES), France, jointly announces an opportunity to carry out scientific research towards the utilization of SARAL/AltiKa data. The objectives of ISRO-CNES SARAL/AltiKa mission are to realize precise, repetitive global measurements of sea surfaced height, significant wave height and wind speed for developing operational oceanography, understanding of climate variability and developing forecasting capabilities. The aim of AltiKa mission is to provide altimetric measurements complementrary to Jason-2, as a follow-on to the successful couples TOPEX/Poseidon, Jason-1/2+ENVISAT series of satellite altimeter missions. The added advantages of AltiKa misision is that it is based on a wideband Ka-band altimeter (35.75 GHz, 500 MHz), which will be the first oceanography altimeter to operate at such a high frequency.T

Graduate Projects at VSSC

Graduate Projects at VSSC

Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC), Trivandrum provides an opportunity for graduate students to work closely with the Indian space scientists. This is a good opportunity for students to know  the ISRO functioning and research programs closely and decide their career plans.

VSSC has a separate priority for dependents of ISRO employees. All remaining applicants are placed in general category. Though, we strongly feel that there should be no such differentiation among the students. A student applying under "general category" should be a student of a college/institute within Kerala.
