Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen "A. P. J." Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram to a Tamil Muslim family. His dad Jainulabudeen was a boat proprietor and pioneer of a neighborhood mosque, his mom Ashiamma was a housewife. His dad claimed a ship that took Hindu travelers forward and backward in the middle of Rameswaram and the now-extinct Dhanushkodi. Kalam was the most youthful of four siblings and one sister in his family. Kalam's progenitors had been well off brokers and landowners, with various properties and substantial tracts of area. Their business had included exchanging staple goods between the terrain and the island and to and from Sri Lanka, and shipping travelers between the territory and Pamban. Kalam served as the 11th President of India, succeeding K. R. Narayanan. He won the 2002 presidential election with an electoral vote of 922,884. He served as the President from July 25, 2002 to July 25, 2007.
